The "Clown Shoe"
Was out this morning and caught this nice Chambers Creek football in 100 feet of water right in front of the harbor. Our downriggers were set at 90 but we are still using the bad braid so with the blow back it was probably around 70 feet. The real story is this goofy rig we were trying. As I have said before I don't own a piece of tackle I haven't messed with at least a little.
Last year when I was ordering my plugs from Tomic in Canada they threw in a TNT as a thank you gift. this TNT is a plastic thing that wiggles like an apex but bigger. Today as I was screwing with stuff I tied a lily pad hoochie that I bought at the Captain's Garage Sale with a Matsuo Sickle Siwash hook, a couple glow beads and ran it through this TNT deal.
What we ended up with was a cool little rig with great action that produced fish. And no flasher so the play was a lot of fun. Never be afraid to try something, even if it looks goofy, it just may be a real producer.

No Honor among theives
I haven't lived in Gig Harbor my entire life but back on Hood Canal where I was raised everybody had crab pots. If you had guests coming or you needed some for something and forgot to put yours out, you would take a couple from someone else and leave a six pack or at the least re-bait it.
So, this is why I was so disappointed today when after a 24 hour soak my pot was completely empty save a half eaten two day old turkey leg. It doesn't really bother me that someone took the crab, if they really needed it, but they didn't even re-bait it. it's a sad state of affairs.
My other pot had 8 all soft.

Harbor Hogs
My friend young Evan caught this HOG last night in front of Gig Harbor trolling a hoochie at about 60 feet. Fish hit right at dusk and put up one heck of a fight, but Evan was up to the task.
Good Job Evan!!
